Our Sustainability Journey

As we step into 2025, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on that the year that was. As an organisation we have made some pleasing progress in our sustainability journey over the past year.

Key achievements and initiatives include:

  • Coal-Free Operations: We successfully converted the Ascot Park Hotel boiler from coal to woodchip, resulting in a remarkable 98% reduction in carbon emissions, equivalent to saving around 1000t of CO2 per annum.  It also marked ILT’s transition to being completely coal-free. Read more here.
  • Renewable Energy Adoption: Solar panels were installed on our refurbished ILT Head Office. The system was designed to generate sufficient power for the office to be self-sufficient, with the potential to export excess power back to the grid. Full story here.
  • Installations EV Chargers: Our latest step towards sustainability is the installation of EV chargers at all ILT accommodation properties. This move not only caters to the growing popularity of electric vehicles but also allows our guests to conveniently recharge their vehicles during their stay.

ILT chair Paddy O’Brien explains our organisation’s approach towards sustainability has always been one of continuous improvement.

“We are advancing on our sustainability path, and these projects have laid a solid foundation for future efforts. They are key components of our broader strategy that demonstrates our commitment to improving energy efficiency where possible.”

Our commitment to sustainability is not just about isolated projects, but a continuous journey of improvement and innovation.
