The Langlands marks its first year in style

Invercargill’s award-winning hotel is gearing up to commemorate its first anniversary – and celebrations are planned for throughout the week.

The Langlands Hotel first opened its doors to guests on August 22, 2022, and since then, it’s established itself as a local favourite and key player on the national stage.

Alannah Tamariki, The Langlands executive manager, is excited to invite the community to join in the festivities.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with our community, and we’ve got lots of fun activities planned. It’s the perfect time to join us and enjoy the unique ambiance and offerings.”

The celebrations will commence on Wednesday 23 August at Two Doors Down, with entertainment from local act Dean Allen, Cheryl Anderson and Kevin Tairaki. Live music will continue Friday with the Diagonals taking the floor, followed by Dynamic Dan’s on Saturday.

The soft opening this time last year saw the accommodation floors open for guests, along with Brew’d café and Two Doors Down the lobby bar.

Other bars Niche and 360 began trading shortly after that, with Meld the signature restaurant delighting diners from December last year.

“The response we’ve had to Meld has been amazing, and we’re pleased to top off the birthday celebration by announcing it will now be open five nights from the 29 August,” said Tamariki.

ILT chief executive Chris Ramsay believes the success of The Langlands is thanks to a collaborative effort.

“We’re pleased with its performance to date, and the expansion of Meld’s opening days means all areas of the hotel are now operating at what we consider optimal hours.”

“This accomplishment is a direct result of Alannah and her team’s unwavering dedication and enthusiasm. They have been instrumental in launching the hotel and will continue to play an important role in its continued growth,” Mr Ramsay said.

“This was the largest single development in our history, and we couldn’t have done it without the continued support of our community. We look forward to raising a glass with them at The Langlands again soon,” Mr Ramsay said.

Events will be happening across the hotel, including spot prizes and birthday treats being served at Brew’d. For more information follow this link to The Langlands Facebook page.
