The Great Pub Cash Giveaway wraps up with $13,000 awarded to local patrons

ILT’s Great Pub Cash Giveaway has wrapped up for 2026, with Lindsay Herman taking home the $5,000 grand prize on Sunday, 4 October.

Mr Herman was at Eastern Suburbs, his local tavern, when the winner was announced at 4pm across ILT’s participating venues.

“I’ve never won anything in my life! The heartbeat certainly went up when my name was drawn,” said Mr Herman.

Mr Herman joked that he had made a lot of new friends after the draw. He had no immediate plans for the winnings, saying he would “save it for a rainy day”.

This year’s promotion awarded $13,000 in total. Eight weekly winners each received $1,000, followed by the $5,000 grand prize. Editor’s Cut joined the giveaway for the first time, bringing the number of participating taverns to eight.

“It’s been wonderful to see people getting together at their local taverns and sharing in the excitement of the draws,” said ILT Chief Executive Chris Ramsay. “Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to everyone who took part.”

ILT has now run the Great Pub Cash Giveaway for three years, cementing its place in the organisation’s event calendar. Across the three promotions, local patrons have won a total of $37,000.

The weekly draws were held at Newfield, Waikiwi, Ascot Sports Bar, Eastern Suburbs, Northern Tavern, The Ave, The Southland and Editor’s Cut between 9 August and 27 September.
