Son & Water to play first South Island show in Invercargill

Aotearoa reggae band Son & Water are heading to Invercargill for their first South Island show, playing at The Shack on Friday, 23 October.

The Hamilton-based band will be joined by local acts Ho and Ha and DJ Teeza for a Labour Weekend night of live music. Son & Water are also on the lineup for Rhythm and Vines later this year.

Led by vocalist Daimond Porima-Ferguson and his father, Jamey Ferguson, Son & Water bring a family connection to a sound built on soulful roots. Jamey co-founded Katchafire and played a key role in the band’s sound before departing in 2013.

The show is the latest in a varied programme at The Shack. The venue hosted two sold-out Hori Shaw performances on his first South Island visit, welcomed King Kapisi on Stags Day in August, and hosted DJ Phil over the weekend.

ILT Marketing and Innovation Executive Angee Shand said The Shack’s flexibility allowed it to host a range of acts and events.

“The Shack can offer something different from one night to the next, and we’re often working behind the scenes to bring new experiences south. We’re excited to welcome Son & Water for their first South Island show, with Ho and Ha and DJ Teeza joining them for a great night of music.”

Doors open at 7pm, with entertainment continuing late.
